Network tool FAQ
What public IP does this tool show?
It shows the IP address visible to public web services, which may be your router, carrier gateway, VPN, or proxy rather than a device-only address.
Why are IPv4 and IPv6 different?
Many networks expose separate IPv4 and IPv6 paths. Your browser may reach one service through IPv4 and another through IPv6.
Can this show my private LAN IP?
No. Browsers do not expose private LAN addresses reliably from a static page for privacy reasons.
Does refreshing change the result?
It can if your ISP rotates addresses, your VPN changes exit nodes, or your browser uses a different network path.
Is this result exact location data?
No. The IP address can be used for approximate lookup elsewhere, but it is not a precise physical location.
